Obituary
Della Prior, daughter of Benjamin and Lillian Hornby, was born at Dysart, Iowa, March 10, 1881 and passed away at the Northwest hospital in Des Moines on January 2, 1968 at the age of 86 years, 9 months and 23 days.
Della spent most of her early life and teens in and around Stuart.
She was united in marriage on November 19, 1902, to John Prior, who preceded her in death. To this union were born twins, who died in infancy, two daughters, Minnie and Mildred, and a son, John.
Her last couple of years were spent at Maple Lin Manor here in Earlham. She was always content and eager for visitors. She especially treasured the visits of her great grandchildren. While she was still able, she pieced and quilted a large quilt for each of her children and grandchildren, plus countless other items for friends and relatives. Though unable to attend services for many years, she was a devoted member of the Church of Christ in Earlham.
Preceding her in death were her husband, John; infant twins, Dorothy and Donald; her parents, three brothers and two sisters.
She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. E. E. Peers of West Des Moines and Mrs. Clyde Brittain of Earlham; and a son, John, of Orient and 8 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren; four sisters: Bess Hornby, Violet Rebelsky, and Mattie Russell of Des Moines, and Anna Lambeth of Texas; one brother, Floyd, of Chicago, Illinois, also survives, plus a host of relatives and friends.
