Wednesday, June 6, 1973IRENE HENSON Dies at 52 Years
Mrs. Irene E. Henson of Winterset, a life-time resident of Madison county, died Monday, June 4, 1973, at University Hospital in Iowa City. She was 52 years of age.
Mrs. Henson was the former Irene Hooper, daughter of Clarence and Bessie Barr Hooper, and was born at Greenfield July 24, 1920. She had lived in Madison county since infancy. She was a graduate of Winterset High School, and for 15 years was employed in the hot lunch program in the Winterset schools.
She was married March 6, 1936 to Wilmer Henson. His death occurred in 1970.
She was a member of the First Christian Church of Winterset and was active in the Christian Women's Fellowship. She was also a member of the American Legion auxiliary.
She is survived by six children, Robert and Don Henson of Winterset, Mrs. Mary Nuzum and Mrs. Marjorie Baker of Winterset, Mrs. Rose Taylor of Urbandale and Mrs. Elizabeth McCullough of Kansas City, Mo. She also leaves her mother, Mrs. Bessie Hooper of Winterset; 14 grandchildren; and a brother, Lawrence Hooper of Winterset.
Funeral services will be held this Thursday at 1:30 p.m. from the Collins Funeral home with Rev. E. E. Jandebeur, pastor of the First Christian Church, officiating. Burial will be made in the Winterset cemetery.
