Gay Agan

Gay Agan, 84, of Winterset passed away Thursday, June 12, 2008, at Winterset Care Center South, Winterset.

Funeral services were held Monday, June 16, at Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare in Winterset. Visitation was held Sunday, June 15, at the funeral home. Burial was at Winterset Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family.

Agatha Gertrude Beem was born Dec. 16, 1923, in Winterset, Iowa, the daughter of Clarence and Iva (Weaver) Beem. She graduated from Winterset High School. Gay went on to marry James Agan on June 29, 1946.

Gay was a waitress at Montross Pharmacy and also worked at the Country Store. She loved watching sporting events on T.V. and especially loved watching her grandchildren play sports. She also enjoyed scrapbooking and putting together photo albums. Gay enjoyed crosswords and word puzzles and loved to travel.

She is survived by her daughter, Cheryl Berry (Stephen) of Winterset; two grandchildren, Bart Berry of Des Moines and Bret Berry of Watsonville, Calif.; two great-grandchildren, Julia Berry and Noah Berry; and a brother, Elwood “Husky” Beem (Jerry) of Humboldt, Neb.

Gay was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James; a son, Jimmy Lee Agan; a grandson, Lucas Berry; and two brothers, Elzia “Pete” Beem and Eldon “Bus” Beem.
