Thursday, May 11, 1911Obituary – W. F. McDaniel
Wesley Frank McDaniel was born in Harrison county, Va., now Taylor county, West Virginia, June 3, 1849 and departed this life at his home in Madison county, Iowa, May 2, 1911, aged 61 years, 10 months and 29 days.
He lived with his parents in West Virginia, until he was 18 years old, he then came to Warren county, Iowa, October 3, 1867. He resided until 1871, he then removed to Madison county, where he resided until the time of his death.
He was untied in marriage to Lucy J. Allen on Sept. 8, 1878. To this union were born nine children, eight of whom survive him. May, the oldest, having preceded him to the Glory Land on Oct. 13, 1908.
He was converted when but a boy. He was reclaimed 38 years ago and joined the Elm Grove M. E. church and has been an active, faithful and devoted member ever since. His last Sunday he spent on earth, was spent at the church. On coming home, he made the remark “that his work with this church was about ended”. But we know that now he is at the church triumphant, where the Sabbath never ends. His one great regret was that he had not given more of his life and service to his Savior whom he loved to serve so well.
Funeral services were held at the Elm Grove church. Thursday, May 4th by his pastor Rev. C. K. Corkill. The text was from Rev. 14, 13. There was a large attendance. He was then laid to rest in the Sayre cemetery.
He will be greatly missed in the community. The entire community extend their sympathy to the bereaved family.
