Carrie DeVault Services Held

Funeral services for Carrie M. DeVault were held at the Earlham Methodist church Wednesday, February 15, with Rev. Stephen Cree in charge. Mrs. DeVault had passed away Saturday, February 11, in the Dexter Clinic.

Donnabelle Lane was the soloist accompanied by her daughter LaVona.

Casket bearers were Vern Wilkie, Bob Reynolds, Dale Smith, Willard Smith, Orville Henry and Lloyd Clague.

Interment was in the Earlham cemetery.

Obituary

Mrs. Carrie Ford DeVault was born June 9, 1881 in Keokuk, Iowa. Her parents were John J. and Sarah Clark Stahl. She lived in Keokuk until her marriage to Omer S. Ford, September 26, 1900.

Of this marriage were born six children, five of whom are still living: Mrs. Russell Garren, Chicago; Mrs. Ford Lorton, Sacramento, California; Mrs. H. P. Buck, Rock Island, Illinois; Mrs. M. R. Palmer, Tucson, Arizona; Mr. Glenn S. Ford, Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

One son, Deo Callen, and Mr. Ford preceded her in death.

On September 2, 1944 she married Mr. O. J. DeVault of Earlham and through this marriage gained another daughter Mrs. Merle Leeper of Penn Center. Mr. DeVault died May 17, 1956.

Her affiliations were Methodist Church, Royal Neighbors Lodge and Rebekah Lodge of which she was a Past Noble Grand.

She is survived by the above-named children, one sister residing in California, eleven grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.
