DEATH BY DROWNING

Martin Coburn, a Boy of Thirteen, Loses His Life in Jim Creek.

A sad death by drowning occurred last Friday near the northwest border of this county. A thirteen-year-old boy, named Martin Coburn, went bathing in Jim Creek, a short distance south of Dexter.

The creek is usually an insignificant stream, but the heavy rains had brought it out of its banks, and it was running with a strong current. Young Coburn, who could not swim, stepped into a hole, and was carried beyond his depth by the current. His body was found some distance down the stream.
