FAYE BURLEY HARLAN

Memorial services are planned for this evening, May 12, for Faye Burley Harlan of 617 North First Avenue, Winterset, who died Sunday night, May 9, 1976, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

Mrs. Harlan died of cancer after a short illness. She had enered Madison County Memorial Hospital May 1 and was transferred to the Des Moines hospital the following Monday evening.

Mrs. Harlan was born April 5, 1906, near Clarinda, Iowa, the daughter of James W. and Maud Burley. She was preceded in death by both parents.

Survivors, include her husband, Ralph, and four children: Keith of Atlantic, Iowa; Roger of Tucson, Arizona; Bruce of Concord, California; and Barbara Edwards of Vancouver, Washington.

She is also survived by twelve grandchildren, one great grandchild, a brother, Ray Bruley of Stillwater, Oklahoma, and a sister, Ferne Van Fosson of Braddyville, Iowa.

The Harlan family, Winterset residents since 1957, lived for many years at Pitzer where they farmed. Mrs. Harlan, who graduated from Drake University in 1967, taught sixth grade at the Earlham Community Schools until her retirement last year.

The memorial service at 7 p.m. this Wednesday will be at the Pitzer United Presbyterian Church with the Reverend Paul Bousfield of the Winterset United Methodist Church officiating.

Burial services were held this Wednesday morning at the Stuart South Oak Grove Cemetery, attended only by the immediate family. The Rev. Alan Parker of the Winterset First Presbyterian Church officiated.
