LOYD D. MURPHY Dies At 52 Years

Loyd D. Murphy, well known Douglas township farmer, died Tuesday, June 19, at University hospital in Iowa City, after an extended illness. He was 52 years of age.

Mr. Murphy was born in Madison county Jan. 17, 1910, a son of T. Earl and Bessie Preston Murphy. His early life was spent at St. Charles, moving from there to Kansas, where he graduated from high school. He then returned to Madison county to engage in farming. He also worked as a mechanic.

Mr. Murphy was a member of the St. Charles Methodist church.

He was married May 22, 1937 to Ethel Seybold, who survives him. He also leaves two daughters, Bonnie Murphy, who is attending school in Ft. Worth, Texas, and Judy Murphy, who is studying in Des Moines; in addition to two brothers, Floyd W. Murphy of Colfax, Calif., and Glen Murphy of Winterset.

Funeral services will be held this Friday at 2 p.m., from the Collins Funeral home, in charge of the Rev. Lewis E. Lint, pastor of the St. Charles Methodist church. Burial will be made in the Winterset Cemetery.
