May 7, 1908Death of EMANUEL WELTY
Emanuel Welty died at his home in Winterset last night, (May 6th, 1908) after a brief illness with pleura-pneumonia.
The deceased was one of the old residents of Webster township and retired from the farm this spring in order that himself and wife might spend the remainder of their days in retirement from active work.
A few weeks ago he returned from an extended visit in Marshall county and located in Winterset. He was about our streets in usual health until a few days ago and his death is a surprise and shock to his friends.
Funeral services will be held tomorrow and interment made near the Oak Grove church, in Webster township.

E. M. Welty, one of the old residents of Webster township, died at his home in this city last night of pneumonia. Mr. and Mrs. Welty retired from the farm and moved to Winterset a few weeks ago, where they expected to live comfortably and enjoy a well earned rest. They recently returned from an extended visit among friends in different parts of the state, and had only become thoroughly settled in their new home when death entered it.
