Darwin Eugene Lynam, 63, of Lorimor died March 12, 2008, at Greater Regional Medical Center in Creston.
Funeral services were held Saturday, March 15, at Powers Funeral Home in Creston with Pastor John Safford officiating. Burial was at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Prescott with military rites performed by Theodore J. Martens V.F.W. Post 1797. Memorials will be established. Darwin Lynam was born June 2, 1944, in Omaha, Neb., to Cloyd Olathe and Velma Cleora (Nash) Lynam. He received his education in the Creston Community School District and also served in the United States Army from 1965–66, during the Vietnam War. On July 13, 1968, he was united in marriage to Diana Lee Cleland in Indianola. They resided in Des Moines for 16 years where Darwin was a self-employed painter. In 1984, they moved to Lorimor. He retired from painting in 2007. He was a former member of Local 177 Painters Union.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers — Russell, Wayne and Dean Lynam.
He is survived by his wife, Diana Lynam of Lorimor; two sons, Lance Lynam and Cortney Lynam, both of Mesa, Ariz.; one daughter, Carey Lynam of Lorimor; one stepson, Rich Cleland of Greenfield; two sisters, Susie Miller and Connie Baker, both of Creston; and two grandchildren.
