Funeral services for Marilyn Jane Camp, 77, who died February 24, 2008 at the Knoxville Hospital will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, February 28 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola with burial following in the Union Chapel Cemetery, rural Madison County, Iowa.

Marilyn Jane Camp was born in Clarke County, Iowa and graduated in 1948 from the Patterson High School and then also from Simpson College. She started teaching in rural Madison county in 1949 and retired in 1989 from the Muscatine Public Schools. Following retirement, she moved to Indianola. She enjoyed spending time with her brothers, sisters, nephews and nieces. She loved reading and poetry and was an excellent cook.

She is survived by her brothers, Marion (Becky) Camp of Olympia, WA, Robert Camp of St. Charles and Glenn (Diana) Camp of Antioch, IL; and sisters, Helen Armstrong and Evelyn Camp both of Indianola.

Visitation will be held 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, February 28 at Overton Funeral Home where the family will be present to greet friends fvrom 6 to 8 p.m.

Marilyn Jane Camp, 77, of Indianola died Feb. 24, 2008, at the Knoxville Hospital.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Feb. 28, at the Overton Funeral Home in Indianola. Burial was at Union Chapel Cemetery in rural Madison County. Memorials may be directed to Hospice of Central Iowa, Knoxville office. Online condolences may be sent to www.overtonfunerals.com.

Jane Camp was born Nov. 7, 1930, in Clarke County to Harvey and Dorothy (Martin) Camp and was a 1948 graduate of Patterson High School. She began teaching in rural Madison County in 1949. While continuing her education, she taught in various schools throughout the state. Jane graduated from Simpson College in 1962 with a bachelor’s degree in eduction. She completed her teaching career in 1989 while at Muscatine Public School District. Following her retirement, she moved to Indianola. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Indianola.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Marvin and Dan Camp; and an infant sister, Mary Nadine Camp.

She is survived by three brothers, Marion Camp of Olympia, Wash., Robert Camp of St. Charles and Glenn Camp of Antioch, Ill.; and two sisters, Helen Armstrong and Evelyn Camp, both of Indianola.
