NANCY ANN ERWIN

Nancy Ann Lawrence, daughter of Joshua and Delila Lawrence, was born in Indiana, Sept. 13, 1840 and passed away at her home near St. Charles March 24, 1921, aged 80 years, 6 months and 11 days.

She was the eldest of a family of 13 children, of whom all preceded her to the Great Beyond, except one sister, Mrs. Susie E. LeValley of Sheffield, Iowa, and a brother, Wm. J. Lawrene of Merrill.

When a small child she and her parents moved to Grant county, Wisconsin, where she grew to womanhood. She united with the church at an early age and remained a consistent believer. She often expressed her desire to have her funeral services held in the church of her choice.

She was united in marriage to Charles H. Erwin in December, 1872. To this union were born two daughters, Julia, now Mrs. George Wallace and Minnie Lawrence Erwin.

After their marriage she and her husband spent some time in Connecticut, New York and New Jersey; finally homesteading in Nebraska, and then locating near Ogden, Ia., where they resided for four years, and then permanently located at the present home near St. Charles in 1881.

Mrs. Erwin has been a patient sufferer. Her last illness was paralysis, and of short duration. The funeral services were held at the U.P. church March 27, conducted by the pastor, Rev. Park. Interment was in the St. Charles cemetery.
