Mr. Patrick Swift, the aged father of Station Agent James Swift, of this place, died at Des Moines, last Saturday, of paralysis, aged 74 years. Mr. Swift was an old citizen of this county and made his home in Crawford township for a great many years, but for a few years past has resided in Des Moines. He leaves three sons and one daughter.

The funeral was held at Des Moines, from St. Ambrose Catholic church, and on Monday the remains were brought to his former Madison county home for burial.
