Patrick Flannery, familiarly known as “Irish Pat,” died at the county poor farm, at three o’clock last Tuesday morning. He was probably about 75 years old and for 35 or 40 years has been a well known character in Winterset and Douglas township. About two years ago he went insane, and was taken to the asylum at Clarinda for a time, but afterwards was brought back and placed in the county hospital where he remained until his death. He was buried at the Catholic cemetery, on the eastern border of Lee township.

Note: Burial was made in the St. Patrick’s cemetery. Civil War vet.
