HELEN M. BREAKENRIDGE

Helen M. Perkins was born in Unity, New Hampshire, Aug. 19, 1854, and passed to her reward, after a very brief illness on April 11, 1921, at her home near Winterset, Iowa.

She was united in marriage with James Breakenridge Feb. 1, 1888.

To this union four children were born, two of whom died in childhood, while two sons, Harold, who is an instructor in Iowa State College and Raymond, a farmer near the home place, survive with their father, to mourn the loss. Of her own family all have gone on before except one sister, Mrs. Clara Leveke of Winterset.

Mrs. Breakenridge has been a faithful member of the church since early womanhood, and has been interested in and idetified with the work of the Sunday school, missionary society, Ladies' Aid and Woman's Christian Temperance Union. Of the later she was one of the organizers at West Star and served as president for many years, and also as an officer in the county organization.

She will long be remembered for her sterling worth of character and nobility of soul. In the words of her life companion, all her friends are pleased to say: "She has done her work well"

She was laid to rest by the side of her two children, who had preceded her in the Penn Center cemetery. The funeral services were conducted by her pastor, Rev. W. C. Hilmer.
