Joel Hockett, an old and respected resident of Earlham, died last Friday. He was born in Indiana, and came to Iowa in 1837, settling in Madison county in 1864. He was prominent in the Society of Friends, or Quakers, which is strong in numbers in Earlham and vicinity. A wife and two sons survive him.

Note: Burial was made in the North Branch cemetery.
