LEVI ALEXANDER ORRIS

Levi Alexander Orris was born in Perry county, Pennsylvania, Nov. 5, 1832 and while young moved from there to Louisa county, Iowa. Here we was married to Hannah Olds, Dec. 5, 1867. They moved to Union county in 1878, and then to Madison county in 1892. Here they resided until his wife departed this life, July 19, 1895. He continued to reside in this county until his death, which occurred on March 24, 1921.

They left surviving them three children: Perry Elmer Orris, born Jan. 1, 1872, of Winterset, with whom he resided in his declining years and at the time of his death; David Willis Orris born May 2, 1875, now of California, and Blanche Irene Justican, born April 1, 1879 now of California.

Early in life he was converted and joined the Methodist church, moving his membership to the Methodist church in 1894, where he was a faithful member.

He volunteered his services in the civil war, and became a member of Co. F. 25th Regiment, Iowa Infantry Reserve Corps and was afterward transferred to Co. I, 4th Regiment Veteran Reserve Corps and given the rank of corporal. He was discharged at Rock Island, Ill., July 15, 1865. He was a member of Pitzer Post No. 55, G.A.R.

He leaves to mourn his death the three children, other relatives and many friends. The funeral services were conducted Friday from the First Methodist church by the pastor and the mortal remains laid to rest in Clark cemetery, near Pleasant View church.
