Death of EMMA HARTMAN

Emma Catherine Hartman, member of a pioneer Madison county family, died at her home Tuesday, April 24, 1934. She was 72 years old and had lived all of her life in and near Truro.

The deceased was the daughter of Anna Stultze and J. D. Hartman. She was born in Madison County on January 17th, 1860. Her parents were pioneers, coming to Ohio township from Indiana in 1855.

She was a member of the Christian church in Truro and as long as her health permitted she attended.

Truro

Emma Catherine Hartman, daughter of Anna Stultz and J. D. Hartman, was born in Madison county, Iowa, January 17, 1860, and died April 24, 1934, aged 72 years, 3 months and 7 days.

She has lived al her life in and around Truro and is the last of a family of eight children. Her parents were pioneers, coming here from Indiana in 1855 and settling on a farm in Ohio township where they lived most of their lives until moving to Truro in their later years. She was a member of the Christian church of Truro and as long as health permitted attended.

She leaves to mourn as her closest relatives fourteen nieces and nephews and many more distant relatives and an endless number of friends and neighbors. Emma was very kind in her attitude and always ready to lend a helping hand in sickness and always thought of others ahead of self.

Funeral services were held from the Christian church at Truro, on Thursday at 2 p. m. The pastor, Rev. Randals, conducted the services. Music was furnished by a mixed quartet composed of J. F. Roby, Arthur Purvis, Anna Roby and Flossie Murphy. Interment was at Hartman cemetery.
