W. J. MADSEN, 70, DIED ON MONDAY

Former Lincoln township resident had been living in Casey

W. J. Madsen of Casey, for many years a farmer in Lincoln township of this county, died Monday night August 29, at a Des Moines hospital. He was 70 years of age.

Mr. Madsen was born at Roswell, New Mexico, a son of Soren J. and Mary Johnson Madsen. His life was spent in farming, many years in Madison County. After leaving here, he served as assistant superintendant of the state prison farm at Clive. His home had been in Casey recently.

During his residence here he was a member of the Madison County fair board and the Madison County Angus Association. He also served as a 4-H youth leader here.

He is survived by his wife; two sons, Gene Madsen of Winterset and Bill Madsen of Cedar Falls; three daughters, Mrs. M. F. Christensen of Casey, Mrs. H. E. Egger of Springfield, Missouri and Mrs. J. W. Kimm of West Des Moines; 13 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; and a sister, Mrs. Stan Whetstone of Des Moines.

Funeral services will be held this Thursday at 2 p.m. from St. John's Lutheran church in Casey conducted by the Rev. Donald Lutz. Burial will be made in the Oakwood Cemetery there.
