Joan Marie Lose, 69, of Des Moines, died on May 24, 2007, at the Mercy Medical Center after a courageous battle with cancer. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Christ the King Catholic Church with burial following at the St. Patrick's Church Cemetery in Cumming. A visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday evening with a 7 p.m. vigil service at Hamilton's Southtown Funeral, 5400 SW 9th Street.

Joan retired from Hy-Vee after more than 20 years of service. She enjoyed traveling, especially returning to her home in Massachusetts, was very active in her parish, but most of all, loved spending time with her family. On June 1, 1957, she was married to John Lose, who passed away on April 12, 2006. June 1st of this year will be the 50th anniversary of their wedding.

Joan is survived by her children Pat Lose of Phoenix, AZ, Nora Lee (Ed) Witt, Joe Lose, John Lose Jr., Mary Alice (Paul) Monroe, all of Des Moines, Steven (Missy) Lose of Menlo, Bob Lose and Mike (Janet) Lose, both of Des Moines, ten grandchildren, and two great grandchildren; sister Mary (Edward) Lose, brothers in law, James Tiernan of Medway, MA and Robert (Audrey) Lose of Des Moines, sisters in law Barbara Lose of Des Moines and Ann Johnston of West Des Moines, as well as a host of other beloved family and friends. She was preceded in death by parents, John and Nora D'Arcy, husband John Lose, Sr., son Thomas, sisters, Eileen and Noreen, brother Andrew, sister in law Bonita and brothers in law Louis, Bruce and Stuart.
