Edna Mae Brown, 70, died Feb. 26, 2006 at Winterset Care Center North. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday March 2, at Collins Oak Park Chapel in Winterset with the Rev. Bill Branson officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Linn Grove Cemetery in Warren County.
Edna Brown was born Oct. 22, 1935 in Omaha, Neb., to William and Gladys (Applegate) Tinneman. On May 8, 1953 she married Melvin Brown in Council Bluffs. She had resided on a farm north of Winterset from 1967-75, then moved to Diagonal. She had been a resident of Winterset since 1996. Edna had been a waitress and also owner of The Cattle Company Restaurant. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a brother, Robert Nicholson; and a sister Jennie Tedke.
She is survived by two sons, Larry Brown of West Des Moines and James R. Brown of New Virginia; two daughters, Joan Collins and Julie Cameron, both of Des Moines; four sisters, Joan Brown of Jefferson, Ohio, Dorothy Bectold of Newman Grove, Neb., and Delores Perrigo and Beverly Kirschner, both of Omaha, Neb.; and 11 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Winterset Care Center North Activity Fund.
