VERA F. (STAUFFER) VAN PELT
Des Moines

Vera F. Stauffer Van Pelt died November 11, 2006, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. Funeral services are 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Westover Funeral Home, 6337 Hickman Road. Burial will follow at Resthaven Cemetery, West Des Moines.

Vera Jensen was born on November 4, 1918 in rural Madison county, the daughter of Arthur and Mary (Boos) Jensen. She graduated with honors from Van Meter High School and attended Business College in Cincinnati, OH. Vera worked as a teacher's associate in the Des Moines Schools including 12 years at Roosevelt High School. Following retirement she served as a Foster Grandparent. Vera enjoyed ballroom dancing and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her daughter, Mary Wolfe, of Des Moines; sister, Eleanor Noack of West Des Moines; niece Marlene Zee of Scottsdale, AZ; step-son, Gary Stauffer and step-daughter, Ruth Edmonds, both of Phoenix, AZ. Vera was preceded in death by her parents, step-mother, Emma; husbands, Fred Stauffer and Arthur Van Pelt; sister, Pauline McKeown and brother Walter Jensen.

Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Faith Lutheran Church, West Des Moines or to the Alzheimer's Association.
