Wednesday, June 7, 1922Death of Mrs. M. E. Hyskell
From Charles M. Hyskell of Portland Heights, Ore., comes word of the death of his mother, Mrs. Mary Ellen Hyskell.
Mrs. Hyskell was born in Indiana 86 years ago and lived in Iowa during the greater part of her life. Her husband, the late Thomas Hyskell was engaged in farming. In 1908, she went to Portland to make her home with her son, Charles. Two other sons, Frederick of Portland and Frank of Des Moines; also one sister, Mrs. George F. Wilson of Los Angeles survive her.
The Hyskell family had a prominent place in the church and social life of Winterset during the years spent in this city, and have many old friends who hold them in kind recollection.
With the announcement of Mrs. Hyskell's passing came a reminiscence of old times in Winterset, written by "Charlie" Hyskell, who learned the printer's trade here, continuing his journalistic work in other fields. This interesting bit of history will appear in next week's Madisonian.
