Funeral services of Eleazar Kinkade, an old resident of Winterset, occurred at the United Presbyterian church, Tuesday of this week at 1:30 p.m. Rev. S. I. Lindsay, pastor, preached the sermon from Thes. 4, 13-18.
He was born on the 25th day of February, 1811, in Brooke county, West Virginia. He was married and removed to Delaware county, Ohio, in 1834. He united with the church of his fathers, under the ministry of Samuel Hineman. In 1843 he moved to Washington county, Iowa. Later he moved to Madison county, and made his home in Winterset. In 1884, with his wife and most of his children and many friends and neighbors about him he celebrated the 50th anniversary of his marriage. One year later the wife of his youth was called home and since that time he has resided with the different members of his family, lastly with his daughter, Mrs. Morey, of Chicago, at whose home in the early dawn of last Sabbath morning, he passed away, in his 83d year, after an illness of only four days. His body was laid to rest in the city cemetery.
Note: Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
