Gale Quick a son of Ira Quick and the late Florence Ellen (Hart) Quick, formerly of Barney but now of Norwalk, was fatally injured at Des Moines last Saturday.
He was a fireman on the Chicago and Great Western Railroad, and as he stepped off his engine, another engine came along, knocking him down and injuring him so that it was necessary to amputate both his legs between the knees and ankles. One of his arms was broken and his head was bruised. At first reports he had withstood the operation fairly well, but he died from the effects of his injuries yesterday.
Gale was twenty one years old, and has been working for the railroad about two years. Many of the people of Madison county were well acquainted with him, as he was born and raised here.
