On Friday evening, John Kirvin of Winterset received a telegram that his son, Vincent Patrick Kirvin, had been killed in action September 17, in France.
"Pat" Kirvin as he was commonly called left Winterset May 13 for Jefferson Barracks, Mo. and was sent overseas in a very short time, landing first in England
Note: Vincent Patrick Kirvin was the son of Thomas Joseph Kirvin & Frances J. Wingle. John Kirvin (probably Thomas' brother), had a son named Patrick who also served in WWI and survived it.
