J. W. and W. F. Payton, of this city, received word Tuesday of the death that morning of their niece, Miss Katie White, of Jefferson township, a young lady about eighteen years of age. She was buried Wednesday at the Fairview cemetery, her uncles attending the funeral.

Obituary

The deceased, Katie White, was born Oct. 29, 1873, and died July 11, 1891, being 17 years, 8 months, 14 days old at the time of her death.

How we miss our darling Katie
But we know she’s gone to God
And we’ll ever strive to follow
In the narrow path she trod.

How her sudden death reminds us
We may choose where we shall be
There are two roads, one to life eternal
And one to everlasting woe.

She will be the first to meet them
Little brothers gone before
And we thank Thee, Heavenly Father
They have met to part no more.

Though so young she’s taken from us
It’s so hard for us dear friends
But she’s now at rest with Jesus
Where companionship ne’er ends.

Yes, we miss our darling Katie
And with softened hearts we pray
Grant our parting hour be peaceful
When to friends farewell we say.
