Hurschel Wesley, son of Mr. and Mrs. Woodard Wilson, was born October 17th, 1888, and died August 23d, 1890, aged 1 year, 10 months and 6 days.
It is seldom a community is called upon to extend sympathy to those who have suffered such losses under such sad circumstances as those connected with the death of these darlings.
Mr. Baker and Mr. Wilson are brother-in-laws. Mr. and Mrs. Wilson came on a visit to Mr. Baker, whose baby was sick. The child died on Tuesday, August 29, and was buried Wednesday, August 30. After arriving at Mr. Baker’s the child of Mr. Wilson’s was taken sick, and died August 23, and was buried August 24. Thus within about four days these parents were called upon to part with their precious treasures in “earthen vessels,” and to mourn with each other.
May these grief stricken parents whose beautiful babes have preceded them into eternity, be attracted to the place “whither they have gone” by the promises of a loving Savior, who being the “resurrection and the life,” invites the weary and heavy laden to come unto him for rest.
These treasures laid up above are held in the heart of God, as the trophies of the blood of Jesus, and are precious jewels gathered unto himself out of a world of sin and sorrow.
Dear parents, you may go to them, but they can not come back to you, therefore “let not your hearts be troubled,” but believe in God and follow Jesus, and he will lead you home.
The funeral services over the remains of Baby Herschel by Rev. Peck. After each service the little bodies, enclosed in white caskets and decorated with appropriate wreaths and bouquets of beautiful flowers, were conveyed to the cemetery and deposited in the earth to await the great call at the last day.
The parents of the deceased children desire to acknowledge their grateful appreciation for favors and services rendered them during their hours of affliction.
