INA RUTH ISENBERGER CARNAHAN YEOMAN
Des Moines

Ina Ruth Isenberger was born on June 20, 1920 near Truro, IA, to William and Daisy Isenberger.

She graduated valedictorian from Lucas Public High School in 1937. After two years at Chariton Junior College she began her teaching career while continuing her education at Iowa State Teacher's College (UNI). In 1959 Ruth graduated with honors from Drake University after which she taught in Iowa and Missouri. She retired from Des Moines' North High School in 1995.

Ruth was active in Union Park United Methodist Church. She served five years as Worthy Matron of Eastern Star, 15 years on the ISEA Credit Union Board of Directors, and on the Iowa Foster Care Review Board. She was the leader of many groups, including 4-H, Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Camp Fire Girls, Girl Scouts, and on the Board of Directors of the Women's Center in Caruthersville, MO. She earned the Scouter's Key in Boy Scouts.

In 1942 Ruth married Hugh R. Carnahan. They had seven children: Hugh "Bill" Carnahan (Virginia), Ruth McAnally (David), Fred Carnahan (Kathy), James Carnahan (Kinney), Ronald Carnahan, Carol Carnahan (Russ Viggers) and Eugene Carnahan (Rickie); fourteen grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter. Two sons preceded her in death, Ronald and Hugh; as well as two grandsons, Hugh William IV, and Ronnie.

Ruth enjoyed gardening, politics, quilting, canning, and visiting her family and friends. On June 18, 2000 Ruth married Harold R. Yeoman. She has one step-son, Dr. Lance Yeoman. Ruth and Harold enjoyed attending Fleet Air Wing 7 reunions world travel and the Northside Senior Center.

Ruth passed away Sunday October 7, 2007 at Taylor Hospice House after a stroke. Her body will be donated to Des Moines University for scientific study. A memorial service will be held on Saturday October 20, 2007, 10:30 a.m. at Union Park UMC.
