Susannah Dart was born in Oneida, Co. N. Y., March 25th 1834, and died at her home in Penn township, Madison county, Iowa, Dec. 30, 1889, aged 54 years 9 months and 5 days. She came with her parents to Clayton county, Iowa in 1850 and to Madison county in 1868. She married James W. Fry, March 9, 1871.

The subject of the above sketch was a great sufferer for 32 years, and yet with patience and fortitude did she bear all her afflictions, knowing that some time, somehow and somewhere the reward is at the end of the race.

She was a worthy member of the Methodist church for 37 years and left behind earth’s richest legacy, a good name. Honored and respected by all who knew her as evidenced by the large attendance at her funeral on New Year’s Day.
