A. C. Rhoades, Marshalltown

Services for A. C. Rhoades, 77, were held Tues. Sept. 17 at Hamilton's Funeral Home in Des Moines. He died September 14 at Veteran's Administration Hospital in Des Moines.

Born in St. Charles, he lived much of his life in Des Moines before moving to Marshalltown 17 years ago. He retired from the maintenance department of the State Highway Commission. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, a member of Capitol City Baptist Church and Highland Park American Legion.

Surviving are his wife, Lela of Des Moines; a daughter, Francine Emerson of Des Moines; two sons, Larry of Garland, Texas, and John of Des Moines; two stepsons, Jim and Jack Robinson, both of Des Moines; three sisters, Luvena Chandler of West Des Moines, Berteen Thorn of DeKalb, Ill., and Minnie Brown of Indianola; 18 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Burial was in IOOF Cemetery, Des Moines.
