FARMER KILLED IN TRACTOR ACCIDENT

William McNerney Fatally Injured in Mishap Saturday

William A. McNerney of Jefferson township was fatally injured last Saturday when a tractor he was operating overturned. Taken to the Lutheran hospital in Des Moines, he died 45 minutes after arriving there.

Mr. McNerney was 62 years of age. Born near Cumming, he had lived near Booneville and in Des Moines for the last 32 years. Since March, he had been residing with his son Jack on what is known as the Walker farm in Jefferson township. It is stated that he was operating a tractor on a road near the farm when it either skidded in loose gravel or brake trouble caused it to overturn upon him in the roadside ditch.

He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. C. W. Forest of San Francisco and Virginia McNerney of Napa, California; three sons, William McNerney of Eugene, Ore., Jack McNerney of this county and Ray McNerney of the U. S. Navy; two sisters, Mrs. T. S. Murphy of Des Moines and Mrs. H. R. Smith of Booneville; a brother, John McNerney of Des Moines and six grandchildren.

Funeral services were to be held this Wednesday from St. John's Catholic church at Cumming with burial to be made at Booneville.
