At Rest.

Clement Baker was born Nov. 12th, 1863, died Aug. 29th, 1889. Just stepped into manhood with a fair prospect of a happy life, he was seized with that fatal and uncontrollable disease consumption, and after being a patient sufferer for almost two years, and with its long unceasing gnawing at his vital organs, he was at last brought down on bed the affliction, which he held but three days, patiently waiting for the moment to come to carry him from this life of trouble to that life everlasting where sickness and death never come. He calmly fell in the arms of Jesus at 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening.

The funeral services were held in the M. E. Church, at Peru, on Friday at 4:00 p.m., and were conducted by Charles Hoover, and his remains was carried to their last resting place in the Peru cemetery, and the long procession that followed him to the grave showed the esteem the people had for him in his community. This is the third one that has been carried away in the last fourteen months of that family with that dreadful disease. He leaves a mother, six brothers, four sisters, and a large circle of friends to mourn his absence.

“A precious one from us has gone,
A voice we loved is stilled;
A place is vacant in our home,
Which never can be filled.”
