On Friday of last week Mr. and Mrs. J. A. McGinnis, whose home is near Patterson, came to Winterset on business. Before starting home they were at Mr. Freestone’s, in the northeast part of town. In the evening they got ready to start home and had already got into the wagon. Mrs. McGinnis was still talking and laughing with some of the persons about the house, when she fell suddenly back from the effects of a stroke of apoplexy. From that moment she was, for any thing any one could see, entirely unconscious. She lingered till ten o’clock Tuesday evening, when she passed quietly away. The sympathies of neighbors and friends will be with Mr. McGinnis and family in their sad bereavement.

Mrs. J. S. McGinnis was buried in the McGinnis cemetery last Thursday. She died suddenly from a stroke of apoplexy. She was beloved by all who knew her and will be sadly missed in the church and in society.
