DEATH OF MRS. IDA TYER

Mrs. Ida Tyer, aged resident of Winterset, died at the local hospital, Thursday, March 7th, after a short illness. She was eighty years of age.

Mrs. Tyer was the former Ida May Hoyt, and was born, January 27, 1885 at Montville, Maine, the daughter of Abigail and Benjamin Hoyt. When she was six months old the family moved to Wisconsin, where they lived a few years, and then moved to a farm near Linden, in Dallas county. On December 20, 1874 she was married to Frederick Tyer, who preceded her in death, April 10, 1929. Of the eight children born to them two have died, Harlan at the age of six months and Vernon who died in 1908. The six living children were all present at her services, Sunday: Burdette of Adel, Edward of Laverne, Minnesota, Mabel Kesting of Marion, Ray and Edith Tyer and Myrle Leach of Winterset. She also leaves a niece Minnie Tyer DeMar, who made her home with them for a number of years. Nineteen grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren survive her.

The Rev. B. F. Hamilton conducted her funeral services at the United Presbyterian church, Sunday afternoon, March 10th, at 2 o’clock and burial was in the Fairview cemetery.

Those from a distance who were here to attend the services were as follows: Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Crooks, Boone; Charles Crooks and Mrs. Allie Smeltzer of Jefferson, Edward Tyer of Laverne, Minnesota, Horace Tyer and family of Osage, Mrs. Mabel Keasting and children of Marion, Edith Tyer of Winterset, Boyd and Earl Tyer and Ollie Flynn and Mr. and Mrs. Bert Tyer of Adel, Mr. and Mrs. Bert Wildner of Adel and Mr. and Mrs. Austin Tyer of Dawson.

Six grandsons acted as pall bearers: Earl, Gilbert, Boyd, Austin, Horace and Roscoe Tyer.
