Mr. Michael McManus, of this place, died at his home Friday. He was born in Downe county, Ireland, in 1809, being at the time of his death 79 years old.

He emigrated to America in 1883 and located here, where he remained till death. He was an ardent member of the Catholic church, and parted from this world under its protection. He was a man of commanding presence, well educated, thoroughly posted on any subject you might name.

Since his arrival here he has been declining in health, but lingered through all until he was called to his eternal home. He was conscious to the last and named his children frequently.

He leaves a widow, four daughters and two sons to mourn their loss. The family has the profound sympathy of the entire town in their hour of affliction.

Lady Jane Day.
