Obituary

Died, February 23, 1888, of asthma, Mrs. Maria Weeks, of Madison county, aged 57 years. Her maiden name was Orris, daughter of Henry and Phebe Orris. She was born in the state of Pennsylvania, in the year 1837. Her first marriage was to Thomas Brown, who died in the service of his country in the rebellion. She moved with her oldest son to Madison county four or five years ago. Two years ago last July she married Charles Weeks, of Monroe township, Madison county, with whom she lived until her death. For years she was a sufferer from that lingering disease, asthma. She was conscious of her approaching end and was prepared to meet in triumphant peace the last enemy. She was a member of the Christian church. She died in peace, leaving her husband, children and step-children to mourn their loss, which was her eternal gain.
