MARILYN HUGHES, Winterset

Marilyn Hughes, 70, of Winterset died Oct. 31, 2007, at the Taylor Hospice House in Des Moines.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Nov. 3, at Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare in Winterset. Burial was at Moon Cemetery in rural Macksburg.

Marilyn Hughes was born Feb. 16, 1937, in Jackson Township, Madison County, to Harry and Doris (Eyerly) Chickering. After her father’s death at a young age, she was raised by her grandparents, mother and stepfather. She was a 1955 graduate of Macksburg High School. On Oct. 7, 1956, she was united in marriage to Larry A. Hughes at Wesley Chapel in Madison County. Marilyn was a homemaker and worked for a time at Employer’s Mutual in Des Moines. She was a member of the Hobby Club, Kasson Friendship Club, and as a young girl, 4-H.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her stepfather, Ray Schulz; two infant sons, Craig and Alan; and a brother, Dwayne Chickering.

She is survived by her husband, Larry, of Winterset; two daughters, Michelle Hughes-Lozano of Winterset and Connie Fenimore of Truro; one son, Phil Hughes of Winterset; a brother, Marvin Chickering of Algona; and six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Marilyn (Chickering) Hughes, 79, of Winterset died on Wednesday, October 31, 2007 at Taylor Hospice House in Des Moines.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., Saturday, November 3, 2007 at Ochiltree Funeral Service and Aftercare in Winterset. A visitation will be held from 1 to 8 p.m. Friday, November 2 at the funeral home, where the family will be present to receive friends for 6 to 8 p.m. Burial will be in the Moon Cemetery, rural Macksburg, with a luncheon to follow at the Macksburg United Methodist Church.
