Mrs. Elizabeth J. Haines, of Indianola, died on the 27th of November. An obituary notice in an Indianola newspaper makes this statement:

On Thursday night, being conscious that her end was near, in a clear voice, she made her several bequests. Then addressing her husband and friends gathered around her bedside, said her work was done. "Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil." Taking the hand of one, she said: "His words are grand and glorious." To all she said that parting with friends was not so hard as she expected. She admonished her husband not to grumble at the will of the Lord, but to say "Thy will be done," and at lucid moments to the end she talked in the same strain, often speaking of her "starry crown," urging them all to meet her in heaven.

Mrs. Haines formerly lived in this county and was the sister of John M. Duncan.
