De Soto Special, April 2. – Ida May Benjamin Cale a resident of De Soto, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Mary Stump, in Earlham, Friday, March 30th, at the age of 72 years. The deceased was born in Dubuque, March 11, 1862. In 1898 she was married to Reuben A. Cale, who died July 10, 1920. She united with the Methodist church when a small child and continued an active member.
She is survived by her one daughter, Mrs. Stump of Earlham. Funeral services were held at De Soto Monday, and the pallbearers were Clyde Maricle, John McKray, Alva Woolery, E. R. Sumpster, Willard and Oren Hadley of Earlham. The music was furnished by Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Anderson and Mr. and Mrs. L. O. Benfield, with Terry Anderson as accompanist.
Mr. and Mrs. Cale and daughter moved to De Soto July 2, 1908 and Mrs. Cale had lived there continuously until her last illness, with the last three weeks being spent at the home of her daughter in Earlham.
