Mrs. Nancy J. Martin, wife of Rev. W. C. Martin, of this city, died at the Methodist parsonage on Wednesday, the 13th last. Her last sickness was short, though her general health had been poor for some time.

Death of Mrs. Nancy J. Martin

Mrs. Nancy J. Martin was born in Lake county, Indiana, March 3d, 1838 and died in Winterset, Iowa, April 13, 1887. When about 13 years of age, she came with her parents to Warren county, Iowa, since which time she has been a resident of this state.

On the 25th of October, 1860, she was married to Robert H. Fink, which connection was severed in less than three years, he falling in his country's service in the battle of Milliken's Bond, June 7th, 1863. At the age of 16 she was converted and joined the Methodist Episcopal Church. During all these years she was faithful in the performance of every duty, not only friendly but loyal to the church and liberal in its support, fixed in her religious principles and satisfied with her church relations.

Nov. 5th, 1874, she was married to W. C. Martin, and entered cheerfully into the itinerant work of the ministry, meeting all the duties and enduring all the hardships of the same, uttering no words of regret or complaint, and, until her health failed, filling her place with marked success and universal favor. The funeral services were conducted by Dr. J. W. Webb, assisted by Revs. C. C. Mabee, George Wright, F. Plumb and Dr. Robertson.
