OBITUARY

The subject of this memoir, Maria Seevers, nee Bryan, was born in Washington county, Penn., December 12th, 1815, and was married to Alfred Seevers, in Coshocton county, Ohio, January 29th, 1835.

Removed from the sate of Ohio to Jefferson county, Iowa territory, in October 1841. Removed to Mahaska county, Iowa, in the spring of 1843, and resided there until April 1864, when she came with her husband Alfred Seevers to Madison county, Iowa, where she lived until the day of her death, which occured on Thursday, December 10th, 1886, at three o'clock and thirty minutes p.m., aged seventy years and four days. Her companion, Alfred Seevers, preceded her to the spirit land three months and ten days; thus one by one the pioneers pass away.

Brother and Sister Seevers were exemplary members of society and were respected and loved by all who knew them for their kindness of heart and generosity of feelings and actions, with all their acquaintances and neighbors. May the Lord bring them to the resurrection of the just at the last day. Sermon by the writer from Rev. 14, 13th verse.
