OBITUARY

Died, at her home near Halstead, Kansas, on March 1st, 1886, Mrs. Margaret E. Murphy, wife of T. P. Murphy of Halstead and oldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. I. N. Hogle of Lincoln Township, this county. The above intelligence will be received with pain and sadness by her many friends and former acquaintences of the deceased in this vicinity. Mrs. Murphy was born in Coschocton Co., Ohio, May 21st, 1852. While yet in her infancy her parents moved to Hancock Co., Indiana. In 1865, at the age of thirteen she removed with her parents to their present home in Lincoln township, this county, where the remaining days of her girlhood and early womanhood were passed.

She was married in February, 1880, to Mr. Thomas P. Murphy with whom she shortly afterward removed to their present home near Halstead, where they have since resided. Mrs. Murphy was brought up by christian parents and early showed evidence of a desire to follow in their footsteps. At the age of fourteen years she united with the Methodist Episcopal Church under the Ministry of Rev. J. W. Adair, at that time Pastor of the Winterset circuit, and we have no reason to ----- that she was enabled to hold her profession unto the end.

Four little children are left with the bereaved husband and father to mourn her loss, to whom they sympathy of this entire community are greatly extended, as well as to Mr. and Mrs. Hogle, who now in the de--- of life seem to have their full measure of sorrow meted out to them.
