Ardith Elaine Thrailkill, 70, of Earlham died Oct. 7, 2007, at Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset.

Graveside memorial services were held Thursday, Oct. 11, at the Earlham Cemetery with Pastor Mike Evans officiating.

Ardith Thrailkill was born Nov. 3, 1936, in Winterset to Alvin and Zola (Bruett) Gentry. Her marriage to Wayne Thrailkill took place Aug. 1, 1953. Ardith assisted her husband in their farming operation. In later years, she volunteered and worked at the Earlham Library and was a Meals on Wheels delivery person. She also was a member of the Madison County Cattlemen’s and Cowbelles Association, Farm Bureau, and Earlham Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by one son, Darrell Thrailkill, and two sisters, Hazel Lorraine Lowden and, in infancy, Adeline Gentry.

She is survived by her husband, Wayne, of Earlham; one daughter, Connie Smith of O’Fallon, Mo.; one son, David Thrailkill of O’Fallon, Mo.; a brother, Wayne Gentry of Omaha, Neb.; and three grandchildren.

Memorials may be directed to the Earlham Fire and Rescue.

Arrangements were handled by Kuhn Funeral Homes of Dexter, Earlham and Redfield.

Graveside memorial services were held for Ardith Elaine Thrailkill at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 11, 2007 at the Earlham Cemetery in Earlham, Iowa.

Pastor Mike Evans of Crossroad Evangelical Free Church of Earlham officiated. Special music was “On Eagles Wings”. Urnbearer was Doug Buchan.

Ardith E. Thrailkill was born the daughter of Alvin and Zola Bruett Gentry in Winterset, Iowa on November 3, 1936 and died at the Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset on October 7, 2007 at the age of 70 years, 11 months and 2 days.

Ardith and Wayne Thrailkill were married August 1, 1953. This union was blessed with three children: Connie, David and Darrell. Ardith worked with her husband Wayne on the farm as a “True Country Woman”. In later years she volunteered and worked at the Earlham Library. Ardith was a volunteer “Meals on Wheels” delivery person. She loved to read, travel and was a fabulous cook. Ardith enjoyed watching the birds in her bird feeders and working with her flowers. She was an avid supporter of the Madison County Fair and the youth of the community. Ardith was a member of the Madison County Cattleman and Cowbells, the Earlham Methodist Church and the Farm Bureau.

Ardith leaves the following family to carry on her memory: husband Wayne Thrailkill of Earlham, daughter Connie Smith and husband Edwin of O’Fallon, MO; son David Thrailkill of O’Fallon, MO; brother Wayne Gentry of Omaha, NE; 3 grandchildren: Cory Smith of O’Fallon, MO; Keith Smith and wife Annie of Kansas City, MO; and Justine Smith of O’Fallon, MO.

Ardith was preceded in death by her parents, son Darrell Thrailkill, sisters, Hazel Lorraine Lowden and infant sister Adeline Gentry.

Memorials may be directed to the Earlham Fire and Rescue.
