Mrs. Cynthia Anne McDaniel, longtime Macon resident, died at 4 a.m. Saturday at the age of 103 years at the home of her son at 2507 Spruce Drive, Columbia, Missouri.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. today at the Hutton Funeral Home conducted by the Rev. Wendall Estill and burial was in the Woodlawn Cemetery at Macon, Mo.

Mrs. McDaniels was born May 8, 1869 in Madison County, Ia. the daughter of William and Fannie Goode Hayes. She was married Jan. 21, 1890 at Winterset, Iowa to Ward McDaniel who had preceded her in death Sept. 28, 1971 at the age of 103 years. They had celebrated their 81st wedding anniversary at their home in Macon Jan. 21, 1971 and shortly afterward went to Columbia to make their home with a son.

Mr. and Mrs. McDaniel had farmed near Winterset, Ia., until moving to Macon County in 1920. They resided in the Ten Mile community where he was engaged in farming for 42 years. They moved to Macon when he retired in 1962.

During their lives Mr. and Mrs. McDaniels were the recipient of many cards, letters and gifts and together received greetings from the last five presidents of the United States, either birthday greetings or wedding anniversary congratulations, from Presidents Harry S. Truman, Dwight D. Eisenhower, John F. Kennedy, Lyndon B. Johnson and Richard M. Nixon. In addition they received letters from heads of state in several countries abroad.

At the time of their 81st anniversary celebration, the U. S. Census Bureau statisticians computed the official odds of a couple's reaching that milestone at 191,000 to one.

Surviving are two sons, Cyril of Columbia and Reuban of Seattle, Wash., 12 grandchildren and a number of great grandchildren.
