OBITUARY

Died in Winterset, on last Sunday morning, June 28th. 1885, Miss Mattie McConkey, after a lingering illness. She was seventeen years one month and three days old.

During all the tedious months of her sickness, she not only bore her painful lot uncomplainingly, but her heart was filled with joy in anticipation of the blessed rest into which she has now entered. To all who had the privilege of seeing her in those hours of patient waiting for her Lord's coming, she "being dead, yet speaketh." The deceased joined the Baptist Church one year ago last December.

The funeral was attended at the residence of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. McConkey, at 10 a.m. Monday, the pastor taking for his text, Matt. 11, 29. "Come unto me all that labor, etc. Nearly two years ago they laid away another beloved daughter, 18 years of age, to her final rest. The afflicted family have the warmest sympathy of their many friends.
