On January 1st David McCarty, one of Madison county's oldest settlers passed to his long home. Years ago Mr. McCarty was active in public matters and in politics. In 1856 he was the candidate of his party for Representative in the State Legislature. His circle of acquaintances was large and his death will be generally mourned.
