PAULINA YOUMANS, WINTERSET

Paulina Mae Youmans, 80, died Sept. 25, 2007, at Winterset Care Center South.

Funeral services were held Friday, Sept. 28, at the Truro Congregational UCC Church with the Rev. Carol Iammatteo-Code officiating. Interment followed at Ebenezer Cemetery, Truro.

Paulina Youmans was born March 6, 1927, to Charles Emory and Lula Mae (Gregory) Smith of Greentop, Mo., and was a graduate of Truro High School. On May 10, 1949, she married Gene Franklin Youmans in Truro. They resided in Des Moines until moving to a farm near Truro in 1957. Paulina was a loan executive for Dial Finance before returning to the family farm to be a stay-at-home mom and assist her husband on the farm.

She also was a member of the Truro Congregational UCC Church, and served earlier as a Sunday school teacher at Wakonda Christian Church and Truro Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her two sisters, Mary Smith and Twyla Linsley.

She is survived by her husband, Gene, of St. Charles; three sons — Vincent Gene Youmans of Fargo, N.D., Gregory Frank Youmans of Montrose, Minn., and Paul Daniel Youmans of Pleasantville; two daughters, Sharon Kay Walton and Janella Susan Youmans, both of Houston, Texas; and seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Kale Funeral Homes of Osceola and Truro.
