BURIAL HERE FOR CRASH VICTIMS

The bodies of Mr. and Mrs. Joe W. Busch of Cooper, who were killed in a highway accident near Grand Junction Feb. 13, were brought to Winterset Friday for burial in Pleasant View cemetery in this county.

Mr. Busch was a former Madison county resident. He and Mrs. Busch had been married since 1965. They had been living at Cooper since their marriage.

Funeral services were held Friday from the First Baptist church in Jefferson.

Double funeral services for Joe W. Busch, 59 and Laura A. Busch, 59, both of Cooper were at 2 p.m. Tuesday, February 17, 1970, in the First Baptist Church, Jefferson. The Rev. Gary H. Rhodes, pastor of the church spoke words of comfort. Mrs. James Kearney sang “In The Garden” accompanied by Mrs. Eldon Kinsman.

Gerald Lawton, John Barber, Gene Ure, George Meinecke Jr., Tom McCurdy and Earl White were casket bearers. Interment was in the Pleasant View Cemetery, Winterset, Iowa.

Joe Wilford Busch was born March 23, 1910, in Madison County, Iowa. At eight years of age he was adopted by Michael A. and Anna Busch. His childhood was spent in Madison County.

In 1928 he took Alma Jean Crawford as his wife and to this union were born six children, Mary Juanita, Doris Pauline, Michael Donald, Viola Mae, Joseph Wayne and Jerry Dean. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean, his infant daughter, Viola Mae, and his son Michael.

In March of 1949 Joe and his family moved to a farm north of Cooper in Greene County. After a short tenure as a guard at State Honor Farm at Clive, Iowa, he returned to Greene County where he remained until his death.

In March 1965 he was united in marriage with Laura Orchard. Joe and Laura made their home in Cooper until their death February 13, 1970. Mr. Busch was 59.

He is survived by two sons, Joe, Jr. of Jefferson, Jerry of Burbank, California; two daughters, Mrs. Charles (Doris) Tipton of Rippey, and Mrs. William (Mary) Morse of Waterloo; his twin sister Mrs. Delbert (Josephine) Snyder of Los Angeles, California, three other sisters Bernice Lawson of Kernville, California, Mrs. George (Zada) McClain of Des Moines, Mrs. William (Marie) York also of Des Moines; and brother, Glen McKebben of Los Angeles, California and Marion McKebben of Des Moines, Iowa; other relatives and friends.
