MRS. LAURA ELIZABETH NOLTE

Mrs. Laura Elizabeth Nolte, born Thomas, was born at Westfield, Wisconsin, July 1st, 1869 and passed to her reward very suddenly at Dexter September 4th, 1950 at the age of 81 years, 2 months and three days. She was united in marriage to Mr. Charles E. Nolte May 6th, 1891 at Sheldon, Iowa.

To this union were born three sons and three daughters, all surviving and deeply mourning the passing of a loving mother. They are: Edward L. of Des Moines, Mrs. Fay Evelyn Leeper of Earlham; Mrs. Fern Elizabeth Carrington of Des Moines; Mrs. Mildred Laura Ellis of Earlham; Orville Thomas of Buffalo, New York; and Willard Ernest of Audubon. Also 15 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren mourn her departure. Three sisters survive her passing, they are: Mrs. Millie French of Guthrie Center; Mrs. Myrtle Barr of Dexter and Mrs. Earl Mills of Earlham. Two sisters preceded her in death.

Mrs. Nolte chose the Christian way of life and joined the church a young girl in her teens. For about 40 years she was a member of the Methodist church at Dexter and Penn Center; and with her husband and children took an active part in the work of the church as long as health and strength permitted it.

Mrs. Nolte as we knew her, was a quiet and unassuming person, and she gave herself fully to her home and her dear ones. Her picture is found in the Book of Proverbs; "She looketh will to the ways of her household. Her children rise up and call her blessed, her husband also, praiseth her."

Mrs. Nolte is mourned and missed, not only by her life's children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, but also by a host of sincere friends. All join in saying; "Thanks for long and fine fellowship. We will see you again, in the morning".

Servant of God, well done!
Thy glorious warfare's past,
The battle's fought, the race is won,
And thou art crowned at last.

The funeral service was held September 7th at the Dexter Methodist church with her pastor officiation, two appropriate songs were sung by Mrs. John Shepard and Mr. Kenneth Neal. That which was mortal was tenderly carried to the last resting place by six of her grandsons; Clifford Nolte, Harold Leeper, Richard Leeper, Russell Leeper, Warren Carrington, and Curtis Carrington. Committal at the Dexter cemetery.
